Hank Moody, a great novelist who's currently suffering writers' block... all while trying to win his former lover and partner, Karen.
The X-Files' David Duchovny stars as the womanizing, alcoholic rascal. This considerably older womanizer has a "No Fucks Given" attitude and maybe that's why he's one of the best hated-loved characters on television. A man who knows what's right, yet his plans are prolonged after all these women just coming onto him. None of these chicks mention "Oh, are you that guy who wrote God Hates Us All?" except for the Pilot's Mia Lewis, daughter of whoa! Karen's fiance.
It's not monkey in the middle like many notable shows with any kind of romantic conflict, but it's a show about getting your normal life back... in the sack, etc, etc. Strong characters; maybe the females are a bit exaggerated, but then again, women can dream and it's L.A, so hell yeah, love, sex, and Polaroids are everywhere.
Nostalgic, definitely. Masterplan to take back your wife, last minute at a wedding? One can only hope.
Truer words have never come onto the screen until now. Hank Moody, wise guy who's one of the greatest examples of learning from mistakes.
He's not obsessed and crying
or drinking himself to drunkenness
He's on his feet, always bouncing
looking for a way
for balance and serenity
