Semester report: High As and High Bs. I'm rather proud of my poor efforts. Already changing previous habits to be considerably more productive ..
Yebisu Celebrities
5 Volumes
1 OVA, 40 mins
A part-timer enjoys every bit of humiliation that he receives from his boss and slowly finds himself in love with the CEO-like figure.
The OVA is 6 chapters (approx 1 volume) in 40 minutes. I find this to be a poor choice for production, but maybe this manga is the flame that inspires Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi of the sort. Rushed relationships and pacing of events forces an atmosphere of a daily life. Always worrying about one thing, whether aware or not. Poorly characterized mates are mismatched with no wit and persona.
Papa to Kiss in the Dark
2 OVAs
A high school boy questions his father's paternity and their relationship beyond that of father-and-son. Oh, and the guy's pursued by his childhood best friend and an upperclassmen.
Great buildup and unraveling. Mostly everything makes sense, but I'm still unsure how to feel about MC's best friend who's been waiting for years to be his lover. I got the feels right there ; I cried for this fella. It's got an effeminate bit in every character and that downplays the drama that girls tend to face in youthful romances , even reality.
Kirepapa
5 Volumes
2 OVA
A baby-faced father admires an author, who turns out to be his son's best friend.
First things first: Everybody around Riju, Chisato's son, seems awfully gay (2010- definition). From the eyes and soul of an adult male, who is definitely younger in spirit and heart, Kirepapa uses a unique POV to present. He struggles to be comfortable with the homosexual relationship, which is great for closeted or straight viewers who have that one experience or partner that still makes you want to never be seen. Gradual acceptance from Chisato's father is an experience that is somewhat relevant. Overall, a mix of sexual play and a blossoming love, with a dressing of cranked-up humor.
The manga has three relationships and the OVA focuses on two. ^^
